CAPS offers funding opportunities and support to its faculty and students in four areas: professional development; reading interest groups; and invitation of visiting scholars and guest lecturers. Preference will be given to those whose primary research focus is Asia, though others are welcome to apply.

CAPS of course continues to welcome grant activity by individual CAPS faculty. As in the past, the CAPS staff can offer assistance in developing and managing budgets for such activities.

CAPS VIRTUAL SPEAKER CLASSROOM VISIT FUNDING: In order to take advantage of the opportunities made possible by the current remote learning environment to invite faculty at other institutions into our classrooms, The Center for Asian and Pacific Studies (CAPS) is broadening the use of our speaker series’ funds to include modest honoraria ($300) for external faculty to participate in UO graduate and undergraduate classes. Topics must relate to Asia-Pacific themes.

CAPS VIRTUAL LECTURE SERIES SPEAKER FUNDING: Considering the current limitation for travel, the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies (CAPS) is providing funding from our speaker series to support honoraria ($500) for external speakers to give a talk on an Asia-Pacific related topic. Funding for your topic may be taken from one of three speaker series, the Jeremiah (pan-Asia/Pacific), Myung Sup Lim (Korea), or Yoko McClain (Japan, upon approval of the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures) lecture series.
