Ying Tan specializes in communication design and new media. Her creative efforts as an artist and designer have resulted in a wide range of work including film, video, animation and digital imaging, landscape painting, and communication design. “Across the Divide,” her most recent art exhibition, was exhibited at a local venue; however, her work has been shown nationally and internationally in various venues such as the International Festival of Cinema and Technology in New York City, (July 23-24, 2005); D-Art 2003 Information Visualization Conference in London, England, (June 5-8, 2003); Mediarama 2002; the Electronic Art Festival in Seville, Spain, (November 2002). In both her teaching and practice she advocates design without boundaries and interdisciplinary collaborations. She is active in developing academic exchange programs with institutions in China, where she worked and lived. Professor Tan’s recent work explores the relationship between vision and sound in time-based design.
